Capricorn Full Moon, Mercury Rx & Jupiter in Leo

He looked up at the broad yellow moon and thought that she looked at him (1916) by Jessie Willcox Smith

June is coming to an end, and as 2026 continues, the astrological synchronicities keep unfolding. On June 29th, the Capricorn Full Moon reaches its culmination as Mercury stations retrograde in Cancer. Less than twenty-four hours later, Jupiter enters Leo, where it will remain for the next year. These aren’t isolated transits. They are the latest chapter in one of the most significant astrological transitions in decades, perhaps even centuries, as Pluto, Neptune, Saturn, and Uranus establish themselves in new signs, shifting the collective energy from Earth and Water toward Fire and Air.

There is a lot to unpack, so let’s dive in.

Capricorn Full Moon

Full Moons represent culmination, completion, and revelation. The June Full Moon is known as the Strawberry Moon, named for the brief season when wild strawberries ripened and were ready for harvest. When that first harvest arrives under a Capricorn Full Moon, it naturally draws our attention to the quality of our lives, what we are grateful for, and what is worth preserving as we move forward.

Again, this is all happening during a massive period of transition. I realize I’m beginning to sound like a broken record, but each astrological event seems to build upon the last, guiding us toward greater authenticity so we can create a better world if we’re willing to do the work.

Capricorn is the sign of stewardship, responsibility, discipline, legacy, mastery, and building something that endures. Symbolized by the Sea-Goat, Capricorn is equally at home in the depths of the sea and on the heights of the mountain, reminding us that true wisdom comes from integrating both. It values quality over quantity, craftsmanship over convenience, intentionality over shortcuts, and permanence over novelty.

Capricorn often gets a bad rap as the overly serious, overly mature sign of the zodiac. I think that’s a misunderstanding. Capricorn isn’t interested in being rigid for the sake of it. It is simply thorough, preferring to build something well the first time rather than rushing toward quick, cheap solutions that won’t stand the test of time.

As Capricorn’s ruling planet, Saturn governs time, discipline, boundaries, consequences, and structure. Under this Full Moon, we’re reminded to slow down and ask what is truly worthy of our time, attention, and energy. Whatever we choose to build, Saturn asks that we do it with care, patience, integrity, and the long view.

This feels like a timely reminder to put our phones down and go touch grass. We spend so much time inside our digital convenience bubbles that we forget we are a part of nature, not apart from it. Step outside beneath the low-hanging Strawberry Moon. Study the intricate veins of a leaf. Watch lightning bugs flicker through the dusk like tiny lanterns, turning an ordinary backyard into something almost magical. Breathe in the scent of fresh-cut grass and the lingering warmth of an early summer evening. Listen to the chorus of crickets as daylight gives way to night.

Capricorn reminds us that wisdom is found in both the depths and the heights. It asks us to slow down, pay attention, and rediscover the extraordinary in the ordinary. Perspective isn’t found by escaping the world. It’s found by becoming fully present within it.

Mercury Retrograde in Cancer

On the very same day as the Capricorn Strawberry Full Moon, Mercury stations retrograde in Cancer. If the Full Moon asks us to pause and reflect on what we’ve built, Mercury asks us to look inward before we move forward. Mercury governs communication, learning, thought, travel, technology, and the way we make sense of the world around us. During a retrograde, that energy naturally turns inward. Rather than pushing ahead, we’re invited to revisit old conversations, rethink familiar patterns, and reflect on where we’ve been before deciding where we’re going. Another nudge from the universe to slow down and be still for a moment.

Because this retrograde happens in watery, nurturing Cancer, the focus shifts toward home, family, memory, ancestry, emotional security, and the stories we’ve inherited. Sometimes the past returns because it still has something to teach us. Sometimes it returns because it’s finally ready to be let go. Mercury retrograde in Cancer asks us to reflect before we react, reconnect with what truly nourishes us, and refine the emotional foundations we’ve built our lives upon. It reminds us that our greatest growth doesn’t always come from moving forward. Sometimes it comes from remembering where we came from.

Jupiter in Leo

Jupiter changes signs roughly once a year, and following the Capricorn Full Moon and Mercury retrograde, it enters fiery Leo on June 30th. Jupiter is the planet of expansion, abundance, wisdom, optimism, and possibility. Whatever it touches tends to grow, making each of its yearly sign changes one of the most significant shifts in the astrological landscape. After spending the past year moving through Cancer, where growth was found through emotional security, family, home, and belonging, Jupiter now enters fiery Leo. The energy shifts from reflection to expression, from protecting what matters to sharing what we’ve discovered.

Ruled by the life-giving Sun, Leo represents creativity, courage, joy, generosity, leadership, and authentic self-expression. Unfortunately, Leo is often reduced to attention-seeking or ego, but I think that misses the deeper symbolism entirely. The Sun doesn’t shine because it wants applause. It shines because that’s its nature. It gives warmth freely, sustains life, and illuminates everything it touches. Leo’s symbol is the lion, known for its courage, confidence, protection, and quiet strength.

When Jupiter meets the lion, we’re invited to cultivate those same qualities within ourselves. This is the time to stop hiding behind fear, perfectionism, or overthinking and have the courage to share our gifts, talents, and creativity. Leo reminds us that every one of us is one of a kind. We each have something only we can contribute, and I believe we have a responsibility to ourselves, to one another, and to the world to share those gifts. That’s why we were given them. This isn’t about becoming more ego-driven. On the contrary, it’s about becoming more authentic, more generous, and more willing to let our own light shine for others.

The Bigger Picture

Mars also enters Gemini on June 28th, adding another layer to this remarkable sequence of transits. Mars is the planet of action, courage, drive, and initiative, while Gemini encourages curiosity, communication, learning, and the exchange of ideas. Together, they remind us that meaningful change doesn’t begin with having all the answers. It begins with asking better questions, staying open to new perspectives, and having the courage to engage in thoughtful conversation.

When you look at these shifts together, the sequence is rather poetic. Capricorn asks what is worth preserving. Mercury retrograde in Cancer asks us to remember where we came from. Jupiter in Leo asks us to carry those lessons forward with confidence, generosity, and an open heart. Each transit builds upon the last, creating a larger story than any one of them could tell on its own.

And now layer this into the collective shift that started a little over a year ago. Pluto continues to transform systems, power, and the collective unconscious. Neptune is dissolving outdated ideals while inspiring a new vision of what is possible. Saturn is laying new foundations and reminding us that lasting change requires responsibility and discipline. Uranus continues to disrupt, innovate, and challenge us to think differently. Jupiter now expands what is ready to grow.

We are living through a hinge point in history. Old ways of thinking are breaking down, and new ways of living have yet to fully emerge. The seeds we plant today become the harvest our children and grandchildren will inherit. The values we preserve, the communities we build, the creativity we cultivate, and the courage we embody all ripple far beyond our own lifetime. It makes me think of that saying, “The one who plants trees, knowing that he will never sit in their shade, has at least started to understand the meaning of life.”

This is a time to slow down, reflect, and recalibrate based on what we want for the future. Before we rush to create what’s next, we’re being invited to slow down, reflect, and remember. To reconnect with the people we love, the places that ground us, and the natural world that has always sustained us.

Life has been a bit of a slog for many of us, just trying to survive in a world of increasing speed, distraction, and noise. Maybe this extraordinary season of astrology is asking us to do something surprisingly simple. I want to slow down and savor life instead of feeling the constant, crushing weight of rushing from one thing to the next before my brain can register what is happening. I’m sick of urgency culture and hyper-reactivity. It’s exhausting and it isn’t healthy, sane, or sustainable.

This is a chance to become re-enchanted with life.

Put your phone down, go outside and touch grass. Feel your body relax as you fix your gaze toward the low-hanging Strawberry Moon as it lingers near the horizon. Study the intricate veins of a leaf. Watch lightning bugs flicker through the dusk like tiny lanterns, turning an ordinary backyard into something magical. Breathe in the scent of fresh-cut grass and the lingering warmth of an early summer evening. Listen to the chorus of crickets without thinking about a to-do list. Remember that we are a part of nature, not apart from it. Then carry that sense of wonder back into your family, your work, your community, and your creativity. Because what we choose to cultivate now won’t just shape our own lives, but the world future generations inherit.
