Full Beaver Supermoon in Taurus

I don’t know about you, but I can’t believe it’s already November, and on Wednesday, November 5th, we have the Full Beaver Supermoon in grounded, earthy Taurus, while the Sun is in emotional and transformative Scorpio. The Taurus Full Moon in Scorpio Season invites us to find stability in the midst of transformation. It highlights the tension between what feels safe and what must change, asking us to ground ourselves in the steady, earthy energy of Taurus while honoring Scorpio’s call to release, renew, and go deeper. This is a Moon of embodiment, self-worth, and trust in life’s natural cycles of holding and letting go so that we can make space for the seeds we want to plant for the future. And also, this is the second of three consecutive Supermoons this year, with the final one next month on December 5th.

For those unfamiliar, a Full Moon occurs when the Moon is directly opposite the Sun. Earth sits between them, and nothing blocks the Sun’s light from reaching the Moon. This 180-degree alignment is why the Moon looks full and why Full Moons carry such strong energy of completion, revelation, and manifestation. Everything is illuminated, and what has been hidden comes into view. The Moon feels strong in Taurus, a sign where it is considered exalted, bringing emotional steadiness, sensual awareness, and peace even as life shifts around us.

Each planet has signs where it feels stronger or weaker, a kind of energetic comfort zone, so to speak. Its domicile is its home sign, the place where it naturally feels at ease and can express its full potential. Some planets have one home sign, while others have two. Its exaltation is like being an honored guest, where the planet’s best qualities shine easily and gracefully. Detriment is the opposite of home, a place that feels foreign or uncomfortable, and fall is where a planet’s energy feels weighed down, difficult to express and is often a humbling experience, as when a planet is in a fall sign, the energy can feel less confident. This Full Moon is exalted in Taurus, which means its emotional nature feels steady, calm, and secure here. This combination brings one of the most balanced and grounded energies in the sky. When a planet is exalted, it tends to operate with confidence, clarity, and ease, so its gifts are easier to access and its challenges are softened. Anyway, thank you for coming to my Astrology 101 TedTalk.

Back to the Full anoon! Taurus is the sign of stability, grounding, and the material world. It rules the senses, the body, comfort, and what we value most. Scorpio, on the other hand, dives into the emotional depths, and can be mysterious and shadowy at times, but it calls for honesty, transformation, and release. When the Moon lights up Taurus and the Sun stands in Scorpio, we are asked to hold both. We root down into the steady ground of Taurus while also allowing Scorpio’s deep water to move through us and open us up to change. This Full Moon asks two questions. What in my life is truly steady and nourishing? And what am I ready to release so that I can grow? Because it is a Supermoon, the emotional and physical pull feels stronger than usual. The answers may come through your body, your relationships, or the way your daily life feels right now.

Preparing for Winter

This Moon is known as the Beaver Moon. In older farming and Indigenous traditions, it marked the time when beavers finished building their dams and lodges to prepare for the cold months ahead. It is also known as the Frost Moon or the Freezing Moon. All the names point toward the same truth: it is time to prepare for the cold dark months ahead. As we enter the final stretch of the year and the threshold of Winter, nature begins to turn inward. Animals store food, trees conserve their energy, and the nights grow long. Thus Supermoon carries that same message for us. Gather what you need, finish what you’ve been building, and let go of what can’t or won’t last. Taurus energy helps us slow down and take stock while Scorpio energy helps us shed what feels inauthentic or disingenuous. Together they bring clarity about what must stay and what can be released before the deep rest of Winter.

Known for its love of simple luxuries, Taurus teaches that comfort, beauty, and enjoyment are sacred parts of life, not distractions from it. But it’s important not to overindulge, balance and moderation are key. This Full Moon encourages us to honor the body and the senses: to savor a good meal, the warmth of our home or hearth, listen to our favorite music, or enjoy the company of those we love. I plan to snuggle down with my cats for at least part of the day. Preparation for Winter is a rite of passage every year, and the large Supermoon acts as a light in the long dark days following daylight savings. Even the natural world reflects this wintery rhythm of preparedness. I’ve noticed a certain intensity lately in nature with more hunting activity, the cats coats are getting thicker, and the careful gathering of food by the squirrels and birds chattering about all hint that a colder, snowier Winter may be ahead. Whether or not that proves true, the message remains the same: prepare, secure, and simplify.

This Full Moon arrives as 2025 begins its final descent toward the end of the year. It shines a light on everything we’ve been cultivating since Spring. Taurus reminds us to appreciate the fruits of our work. Scorpio whispers to us that every harvest is followed by release, pause and renewal. Together they form a cycle of completion that prepares us for the fresh beginnings of 2026. Because Full Moons always fall opposite the current Sun sign, they naturally carry a sense of duality and balance. They show us the full picture, the outer work of the Sun and the inner response of the Moon. When these two are in harmony, we can see clearly what has reached fullness and what must now change form.

The influence of Uranus and other shifts

Shortly after this Full Moon, Uranus retrograde moves through the late degrees of Taurus. Uranus is the planet of awakening and surprise, often shaking loose what has become too rigid. In Taurus, it challenges our ideas about stability, money, and security, which fits this Moon’s theme perfectly. And yes, every time we say the name Uranus, it still gets a little giggle. Why astrology kept the Greek name instead of the Roman one, Caelus, when every other planet is Roman, remains one of life’s small mysteries, but maybe the universe has a sense of humor.

This week also carries a wave of other planetary movement that shapes how this Full Moon lands. On November 4th, fiery Mars enters expansive Sagittarius, stirring our desire for new experiences, meaning, and freedom. It can inspire us to take chances and move toward unfamiliar territory, but it also reminds us to stay mindful of arrogance or impulsiveness. The next day, the Taurus Moon reminds us to ground those impulses and come back to what is real and sustainable. The fiery push of Mars can feel at odds with Taurus’s earthy calm, but together they remind us that movement and grounding are partners in growth rather than opposites.

On November 6th, Venus enters Scorpio, deepening the emotional tone even more. This shift invites honesty and intimacy in relationships and with our own desires. Almost immediately, Venus forms a tense square to Pluto in Aquarius, stirring powerful feelings around control, vulnerability, and trust. This transit can bring relationship truths to the surface or reveal where we are clinging to comfort instead of growth. Then on November 7th, Uranus retrograde re-enters Taurus for its final stretch before it leaves the sign for good in April 2026. This is the last chapter of a seven-year journey that has been reshaping how we define stability and value, both personally and collectively. On a global scale, Uranus in Taurus continues to revolutionize finances, resources, and our relationship to the land. On a personal level, it asks us to loosen our grip on false sense of security, and trust that genuine stability grows from adaptability.

Two more major retrogrades follow close behind. Mercury stations retrograde in Sagittarius on November 9th, urging us to rethink what we believe and how we communicate those beliefs. It is a time to slow down, question assumptions, and stay open to new perspectives. Just two days later, on November 11th, Jupiter stations retrograde in Cancer, turning our attention inward toward emotional growth, home, and family patterns. Jupiter invites reflection about what truly nurtures us and where we can build more emotional honesty and self-trust.

All of this planetary motion gathers around the Taurus Full Moon like a chorus echoing its message: balance change with steadiness, movement with grounding, and depth with simplicity. The cosmos is busy, but the lesson is clear; life is shifting, and the key to navigating all this rapid change is to keep your feet on the ground while letting your heart stay open to transformation.

Working with the Full Beaver Supermoon

Take a quiet evening under the Moon if possible. Feel your feet on the ground and your breath moving through your body. Taurus asks you to anchor in the present moment. Scorpio invites you to listen for what wants to change. Make a list of what feels stable and alive in your life, what you can trust and what brings you peace. Then make another list of what feels heavy, false, or draining. Let the Moon’s brightness help you see these truths clearly. Release one thing. It might be an old habit, a belief, or an obligation that no longer aligns with who you are becoming, or who you want to be in the future. Then recommit to something that truly supports you and your future self. This simple act honors both Taurus’s steadiness and Scorpio’s desire for transformation.

The Taurus Beaver Supermoon is a turning point. It invites us to ground in what is real, to trust our senses, and to clear space for what will carry us through Winter. It is both practical and sacred. It honors the body and the soul. Under its light, we are reminded that the world is always moving through cycles of holding and releasing, of rooting and rising again.

Stand in that balance. Feel the pull of the Earth below and the depth of the sky above. What you keep now will sustain you. What you release will free you. The Moon is full, and so are you.
